The Facts
The Economic Case for the Arts
The Miami-Dade arts sector generates $2.1 billion annually and supports 32,000 jobs. For every $1 invested, the cultural sector returns an average of $42 in local economic activity. Cultural tourism draws 4.2 million visitors and delivers $348 million in public revenue each year. Arts grants reach over 300,000 children and families annually via more than 100 local nonprofit partners.
Eliminating this funding does not solve a budget problem—it creates one. It would cause: Closure of hundreds of community-based arts organizations. Thousands of job losses in the creative and adjacent industries. A significant drop in tourism and cultural spending. Loss of safe, accessible spaces for youth, seniors, and families.
